For starters: A steady and reliable fielder and offensive player, Suarez
will find himself in the everyday starting lineup, either at third base
or as a backup at shortstop.
High School: A June 2004 graduate of Marlboro High School in Marlboro,
NJ, where he graduated with a 3.6 GPA…Played four years of baseball,
including two on the varsity level for coaches Robert Anderson and Bobby
Jack….Also played one year of varsity basketball for the Mustangs…In his
junior season on the diamond, was named Marlboro’s Most Improved
Player…Earned the Academic-Athletic Honor Award for Monmouth
County…Played in the Morris County fall baseball all-star game…Was a
member of the New Jersey Warriors, which won back-to-back AAU New Jersey
state championships in 2000 and 2001; also a member of the NJ Clark
Redlegs, coached by Gary Maertz of Clark, NJ.

Manual Suarez…Nickname is “C-Los” or “C-Lo”…Parents are Josephine and
Juan Suarez…Has two younger brothers, Robert, 17, and Gabriel,
16…Declared major at NJCU is business administration…Career ambition to
become an accountant, and to own/run his own business…A switch hitter
who throws right handed…For seventy hours per year, Suarez is a
participant in a community service program where he works with special
educations children…Interests include the violin and collecting
memorabilia…Favorite NJCU class so far is Economics…Represents the
baseball team on the NJCU Student-Athlete Advisory Board…Lists his
father, Juan, as his hero…A fan of the New York Yankees…The Sandlot and
Scarface are among his top movie choices…Enjoys Spanish, Cuban, and
Italian food…Suarez also is helping to take care of his grandfather, who
is suffering from lung cancer. |
